Pachakam, who is doing, what is done, good manish bad is to be decided with the help of manidha, or ‘intellect’ or the ‘pragnanam’, which is the ‘Brahmam’, ‘Pragnanam Brahma’, and we can not take it conveniently and do what ever is convenient and profitable, in what ever we like and say that ‘ I am not the doer or mabisha fruit bearer’, it has to be decided utilising the ‘budhi’, even then if we deceive our selves, there is the ‘antharyami or the pragnanam brahma, watching, not only he, The Pancha Bhuthas, The Sun, The Moon and Fire, these are all the witnesses for what we do, how we do and why we do, we can not escape from the responsibility, even if we become too smart and say it is not I, but the God doing through me, so I am not responsible!
Surely there must be critics who do not buy into the monumental nonsense of this extraordinarily inane, conceited and delusive religious creed of AV, but have not come forward to unequivocally denounce and condemn it. Nowhere in these five verses are there references to the questions posed to him by the chandala.
So, if the author of this post wants to convey the failings of the acharya with reagrds to taking on the key social evil panxhakam untouchability, the evidence cited above does not cut it.
But Shakaracharya could not utter a single word against this practice even when Shiva posed this question to him. In that limited number of years, his calling was completely towards metaphysics,philosophy and the writing of commentaries on Upanishads, Brahma Sutras etc.
Chandala continues his query: According to the legend, Adi Shankaraachaarya, was on his way to the temple after finishing his bath.
